As a skipper at Leemstar, you will be at the helm of our fleet which is an amazing variety of boats. For example, our stunning open sloops or elegant salon boats, but also a few yachts. You ensure every guest enjoys a smooth, safe, and memorable journey through Amsterdam’s iconic canals and beyond.
You’ll help create a welcoming atmosphere by sharing fascinating stories about the city and Dutch countryside.
- Navigating guests through shared or private cruises, offering an unforgettable experience on the water
- Taking full responsibility for the safety and comfort of everyone on board
- Engaging passengers with interesting facts and stories about Amsterdam’s rich history and famous landmarks
- Assisting guests by answering questions and offering support throughout the trip
- Performing routine checks and basic maintenance on the vessel, reporting any technical issues promptly
- Ensure the boat remains clean, you are pro-active in keeping the ship clean and tidy.

As a captain at Leemstar, you enjoy working closely with your team and have excellent communication skills. You are flexible, energetic, and committed to providing guests with a warm and memorable experience by going the extra mile. You feel ownership for the ship and are pro-active in sharing feedback to the management so we can keep on optimizing our fleet/products together.
- A valid boating license (KVB 1 or 2, (B)GVB, Marifoon)
- Are proficient in Dutch and English. More languages are a plus
- Historical knowledge about the city and you are a natural storyteller
- Sociale Hygiëne Certificate

A clean, fresh, and well-maintained boat immediately sets the tone for the entire experience. Details matter — from shining windows and spotless benches to a clean toilet and an organised interior. Guests notice everything.
That is why we are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented cleaner who takes pride in their work and wants to grow together with us.
We are starting with one boat and hope to expand further if the collaboration feels right.

As part of the Leemstar team, you will help ensure our boats always look clean, fresh and
welcoming for guests.Your responsibilities include:
• Cleaning the boat inside and outside
• Cleaning windows, roof and exterior surfaces
• Cleaning and refreshing the toilet area
• Cleaning fridges, storage areas and spaces underneath benches
• Making sure the boat looks organised and guest-ready after every cleaning session
• Reporting maintenance issues or things that need attention
• Sharing ideas and feedback to help improve cleanliness and organisation onboardThe role is expected to be approximately 2 to 3 times per week, depending on the schedule
and season. -

This season, we are growing our newest concept: the Clog & Tulip Boat — an energetic, typisch Dutch experience on the canals of Amsterdam.
Guests step aboard a historic Dutch praam, enjoy local hospitality, hear stories about the city, and experience Amsterdam in a more personal and entertaining way.
For this concept, we are looking for hosts who want to help make the experience bigger, better, and more successful.

- Welcoming guests on board in an energetic and hospitable way
- Creating a fun, warm, and engaging atmosphere during the cruise
- Sharing stories and fun facts about Amsterdam
- Assisting guests with drinks, snacks, and ticketing
- Approaching people near the dock and enthusiastically telling them about the experience
- Helping grow the Clog & Tulip Boat into one of Amsterdam’s most talked-about experiences
- Working closely together with the skipper and the Leemstar team
- Thinking proactively about improvements, new ideas, and the overall guest experience
- Ensuring daily start-up and closing procedures are completed properly
- Keeping the boat clean, organised, and guest-ready throughout the day
- Reporting operational issues, guest feedback, or incidents to management when necessary

We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people, hospitality, and creating positive energy.
Someone who is proactive, confident, and naturally approaches guests with a smile. Someone who understands that creating memorable experiences is all about the details, atmosphere, and personality.
You Are:
- Energetic and socially confident
- Comfortable approaching and engaging with people
- Flexible, reliable, and hands-on
- Comfortable working outdoors and on the water
- Available during weekends, spring, and summertime, with opportunities to continue long-term as Leemstar expands its concepts and experiences
- Fluent in English (Dutch is a big plus, and additional languages are even better)
- Interested in hospitality, tourism, or entertainment
- Someone who naturally takes initiative
- Motivated to grow within the role and contribute to expanding the concept
- Preferably working freelance / self-employed (ZZP)
Experience in hospitality, tourism, events, or sales is a plus — but mindset, energy, and personality are even more important to us.
